Is the addition of comprehensive and collision coverage the difference between liability and full coverage?

Liability is the minimum required insurance,it only pays for the damages and injuries you cause to other people and property, but not to you.
Collision takes care of things like hitting a deer that runs out in front of you.
Comprehensive is more like a filler insurance that covers some gaps in coverage.
Full coverage covers most losses for any reason (fire,theft,etc.).
If your car is more than 10 years old,you only need liability insurance, but you can have additional coverage if you want.
You will want full coverage if your car is new and/or financed by a bank.
